Are you called? This is the question that brings you to this website. It is the question that won’t let you go.

Finding the answer requires you to open your heart and dive into the the work of discovering Christ's call. It is work that is well worth your while. If you are called by Christ to serve the Church as a religious priest or brother, it is in that life that you will find your joy. If you are not, it is only by engaging the question that you can find the answer and move on.

The Office of Vocations for the Congregation of Holy Cross, United States Province, stands ready to assist you as you seek to find the answer. Hearing the call is a matter of seriously engaging the process of discernment. Discernment Tips

There is no perfect formula for the work of discerning God’s call. Yet there are time tested steps that you can take as well as several aids that can help in your discernment. Take some time with these discernment tips to delve into a deeper exploration of your vocation.    

Vocation Discernment Prayer


Prayer is one of the greatest resources in discernment. It draws us into a deeper relationship with Christ who is the one offering the call. We provide introductions to several forms of prayer that can be helpful in your discernment.  



Christ may be calling you to follow, yet the many distractions of life can make it difficult to hear that call and respond. Retreats offer opportunities to step out of day to day life in order to spend time in prayer and reflection. These discernment retreats offered by Holy Cross give you the opportunity for prayer and reflection within the context of learning more about the community and about God’s call.
