Fr. Charlie McCoy, C.S.C., was ordained to the priesthood April 18, 2009, at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. In this series, “It All Adds Up,”  Fr. Charlie will share the adventures of a college priest. In today’s post, Fr. Charlie shares about a 30-foot gorilla. If that does not light your curiosity to read more, I do not know what will! Read More

Deer Porte, the annual seminarian camp, came to end earlier this morning as the seminarians packed up and headed back to Notre Dame for final preparations for the academica year.  Credit for the successful camp this year really goes to Matt Kuczora, the third-year seminarian who served as the camp "mayor."  Before camp came to a close, there were a few final exciting events including the relative new tradition of tennis ball golf. With the beginning of the camp, I realized that I had missed my brothers in the seminary more than I had thought.  It has been great to see everyone again and finally catch up on the various activities everyone participated in over the summer.  It has also been great to welcome the new guys into our community and get to know them. Today the 49 seminarians from Old College and Moreau Seminary along with their formation staffs left Notre Dame for their annual camp to begin the new year of formation. In Holy Cross, the tradition of starting the new seminary year with a camp dates back to 1905 when the seminarians spent two weeks at Harper’s Ferry in Virginia. Back then, the seminarians did honest-to-God camping. Read More

Another one of our Holy Cross priests from Family Theater Productions is making the news. Fr. Wilfred “Willy” Raymond, who is actually the Director of Family Theater Productions in Hollywood, is also giving his time as a chaplain to the Los Angeles Dodgers. As the article relates, Fr. Willy got involved with the Dodgers more out of a passion for the Sacraments, than out of a passion for baseball. Read More
