Back on September 15, the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Indiana Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross named the eight recipients of the 2010 Spirit of Holy Cross award, which is given to lay collaborators who serve with the Congregation in the United States and abroad. Today, one of the recipients, John Soisson, the Special Assistant to the President at the University of Portland, shares his reflections on what it has meant to him to be a part of the Holy Cross family and its mission. Salt + Light Television, our Catholic channel of hope from Canada, has been working on a beautiful documentary on the life of Brother André entitled God’s Doorman.  Although the documentary is currently racing toward completion, they just launched the website for it, which includes the trailer for what has been a real labor of love for the people at Salt + Light. Ordination Doubleheader

This weekend in Holy Cross we are blessed to have a doubleheader of ordinations.  First, today, Saturday, September 18, Deacon Alfredo Olvera Ledezma, C.S.C., will be ordained to the presbyerate in La Luz, our Holy Cross parish in Monterrey, Mexico. 

Then on Sunday, September 19, Brother John Britto Antony, C.S.C., will be ordained to the deaconate at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, which is another Holy Cross parish, in Bennington, VT. Read More

Today, the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, is the patronal feast day of the Congregation of Holy Cross. Although Blessed Basil Moreau dedicated the sisters of Holy Cross to the care of Our Lady of Sorrows, he also put his entire religious family under her loving patronage. To help us all join in this wonderful celebration, the biggest of the Holy Cross year, we share the beautiful reflection Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, the Bishop of Peoria, wrote on Our Lady of Sorrows for the daily meditation book, The Cross, Our Only Hope. May the Our Lady of Sorrows continue to intercede for Holy Cross so that we may be close to Jesus the last. Read More
