Rome Pilgrimage 2007

March 17, 2007 • Categories: General

Over spring break, 21 men traveled to Rome on a vocation pilgrimage. This was the fourth year that the pilgrimage has occurred. It gives young men the opportunity to visit religious and cultural sites in Rome and Assisi, as well as to pray together and discuss religious vocations.

This year, 15 undergraduates and two recent graduates went on the pilgrimage. They were accompanied by Rev. Edwin Obermiller, C.S.C., the director of the Office of Vocations, as well as three seminarians from the Congregation of Holy Cross.

The itinerary for the trip included visits to St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican museums, the three minor basilicas, Assisi, the catacombs, and the Pantheon. The group also toured the tomb of St. Peter and attended a general audience with the pope. There was also a private Mass celebrated with Rev. Hugh Cleary, C.S.C., the superior general of the Congregation of Holy Cross. The Mass took place in the Grotto of St. Peter’s, very near the tomb of Pope John Paul II.
