Brothers' Program

We grow close to one another as brothers by living together in community. If we do not love the brothers whom we see, then we cannot love the God whom we have not seen.(Constitution 4.34)

The brothers of Holy Cross contribute boldly and broadly to the apostolic work of the congregation around the world. They are an integral part of Holy Cross communities and the Holy Cross family as “educators in the faith.” Brothers’ responsibilities may include teaching at the college or high school level, campus ministry, social work, administration, formation, or property management in ministries in the United States and around the world.

The three central elements of a Holy Cross brother’s life are prayer, community, and service. A brother lives a Gospel-centered life of poverty, chastity, and obedience, standing as a witness that Christ is among us.

The seven brothers who came to Notre Dame with Fr. Sorin, C.S.C., were critical to the mission’s success. Today Holy Cross brothers continue to serve with distinction across the world as an integral part of the community’s mission as Educators in the Faith.
