Rev. James Gallagher, C.S.C.

Director, Office of Vocations

Fr. James Gallagher, C.S.C., joined the Office of Vocations staff in 2008 and has served as the Director of the Office of Vocations since the fall of 2009. Before entering full time vocation ministry, Fr. Jim served for two years at the University of Portland, working in campus ministry and residence life. A native of South Bend, Ind., Fr. Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering ('98) and a Master of Divinity ('06) from the University of Notre Dame prior to his ordination in 2007. In addition to his position as Vocation Director, Fr. Jim also ministers as priest-in-residence in Zahm Hall on the Notre Dame campus.

Rev. Andrew Gawrych, C.S.C.

Associate Director, Office of Vocations

Fr. Andrew Gawrych, C.S.C., joined the Office of Vocations staff in 2010 after serving as deacon and then parochial vicar at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Goodyear, Ariz. Born in Michigan and raised in Kansas, Fr. Drew earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and International Relations from the University of Notre Dame in 2002. Following graduation, he joined the Congregation of Holy Cross, and in 2007 was awarded a Master of Divinity degree from the University prior to his ordination to the priesthood in 2008. In addition to his vocation ministry, Fr. Andrew has written several books on Holy Cross spirituality. He currently lives in residence at Moreau Seminary.

Rev. Ralph Haag, C.S.C.

Associate Director for Campus Vocations, University of Notre Dame

Fr. Ralph Haag, C.S.C., born and raised in Omaha, Neb., earned his undergraduate degree from Creighton University in 1998 and a Master of Divinity degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2003. He was ordained in 2004 and served as parochial vicar at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Phoenix. In 2006, he returned to the University of Notre Dame as rector of St. Edward’s Hall and Director of Hispanic Ministry at Notre Dame. Fr. Ralph joined the Office of Vocations staff in 2009 where he coordinates campus vocation events at the University.

Rev. Brad Metz, C.S.C.

Associate Director for Campus Vocations, University of Notre Dame

Fr. Brad Metz, C.S.C., holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology (‘96) and a Master of Divinity (‘01) from the University of Notre Dame. Since his ordination in 2002, he has served as a hall director and Assistant Director for Faith Formation in Campus Ministry at the University of Portland, as well as parochial vicar at St. Joseph Parish in South Bend, Ind., Holy Redeemer Parish in Portland, Ore., and Holy Cross and St. Stanislaus Parish in South Bend, Ind. In 2010 he joined the formation staff for the Candidate Program at Moreau Seminary while pursuing a master’s degree in Non-Profit Administration at the University of Notre Dame. In addition to his work with the candidate formation staff, Fr. Brad currently serves as rector of Fisher Hall and assists with vocation work on campus.

Rev. Gerry Olinger, C.S.C.

Associate Director for Campus Vocations, University of Portland

Fr. Gerry Olinger, C.S.C., is Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Portland and Concurrent Assistant Professor of Political Science. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from the University of Notre Dame in 2001, as well as a Juris Doctor degree in 2004 and Master of Divinity in 2009. Following his ordination to the priesthood in 2010, Fr. Gerry was assigned as a hall director and staff member in the Office of Campus Ministry at the University of Portland and subsequently named Executive Assistant to the President.  In addition to his work in campus vocation ministry, Fr. Gerry also serves as pastoral resident in Kenna Hall and is a member of the Board of Trustees for De La Salle North Catholic High School in Portland.
