Meet the Men in Formation
Those in the Old College Undergraduate Seminary pursue their academic interests as students at Notre Dame or Holy Cross College, while at the same time being introduced to religious life in Holy Cross through a process of spiritual formation in the context of community life.
The Postulant Program at Moreau Seminary is a one-year pre-novitiate program. It is designed for men ages 21-35 who are prepared to immerse themselves in Holy Cross community life while continuing their personal discernment, spiritual development, and growth in knowledge.
The Novitiate is our house of formation near Colorado Springs, CO. There the seminarians spend a year of prayer and discernment removed from the distractions and pace of full-time work or study in order to focus on deepening their prayer life and their understanding of God’s call.
The temporarily professed men in formation live at Moreau Seminary and engage their theological studies and pastoral formation through the Master of Divinity Program at the University of Notre Dame. Here they deepen their sense of call, life of prayer, and ability to serve.
At the end of the Professed Program, a seminarian professes perpetual vows and is also ordained as a transitional deacon. After serving as a deacon for approximately eight months, he is then ordained a priest.
